Frequently Asked

Questions

How old do you have to be to climb?

At Zion Climbing Center, we do not have an age requirement for climbing. Each child has motor skills that mature at different rates. Not only do we take into account your child’s motor skills level, but also his or her ability and willingness to come down from the wall. If you are thinking about bringing your child to climb and aren’t sure if he or she is ready, we would love for you to come and try it out. We can conduct an assessment, free of charge.

What clothes should I wear to climb in?

Comfortable workout or exercise clothes are the best to climb in! Climbers need to be able to move freely, so you don’t want to wear any clothing that is restrictive.

I’ve never climbed before. Could you tell me what to expect when I come to Zion?

Zion has been intentionally designed so that beginner climbers will not only be successful, but also learn how to be safe and have a good time. We have route setters continually updating our routes to ensure our walls are fun yet challenging for all skill levels.

What gear is offered when I climb at Zion?

All the safety gear you need to climb is provided and will be demonstrated by our knowledgeable volunteer staff. For visitors who have purchased one of our day passes, climbing shoes are available for an additional $3 rental fee. Climbing shoes are included for group events, birthday parties, and with the purchase of a month pass.

I didn’t realize Zion was a nonprofit organization! Is there anything I can do to help?

Yes! Zion is a 501(c)(3) public benefit nonprofit. We are run exclusively by volunteers and our desire is to provide climbing to all, as we strive to build a sense of true community. Please contact us if you would like more information on becoming a volunteer or donating to our mission.

Before

You Climb

Everyone must sign the Zion Release of Liability Waiver and check in at the front desk before entering any climbing area. If you’re under 18, your parent or legal guardian will have to complete this waiver. We’ll keep your waiver on file for one year, so you’ll just need to do a quick check-in when you arrive.

Save time and fill out the waiver online before you head to the climbing center!
